Activity: The class warms-up by doing jumping jacks while skip-counting by 5. (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60) Next the teacher pulls a card from a deck of 5 multiplication math facts. The students skip count by 5 while doing jumping jacks to find the answer. The maximum number of jumping jacks for each round is 12. For example, 3 x 5 = would results in three jumping jacks counting by 5’s, “5, 10, 15”.
Take a Mindful Minute: Students are asked to sit back in their seats for a “Mindful Minute”. “Feet are flat on the floor, backs are straight, hands are still in our laps. We will now take five nice slow breaths while watching the breathing ball. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale.”
