Start facing your partner with your hands together.
The first clap is made with your partner using your right hand.
The second clap is made by you clapping your two hands together.
The third clap is made with your partner using your left hand.
The fourth clap is a double high five with your partner.
Now we will count this four-movement pattern. 1, 2, 3, 4
Repeat and continue counting until you get to 48.
This time we are going to whisper for the first three claps and firmly say the number when we double high five our partner. (Demonstrate by whispering 1, 2, 3, with the movements and then firmly say “4” on the double high five.)
Now we are going to keep going all the way to 48.
Take a Mindful Minute: Students are asked to sit back in their seats for a “Mindful Minute”. “Feet are flat on the floor, backs are straight, hands are still in our laps. We will now take five nice slow breaths while watching the breathing ball. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale.”
