Think-Pair-Share (TPS) is a powerful and versatile teaching strategy that promotes reflection, collaboration and discussion in the classroom. Students are first asked to think about something on their own for a certain amount of time. Next, students turn to a partner and share their ideas with each other for a prescribed period of time. Finally, pairs are asked to share thoughts, ideas and or answers with the entire class.
Once students have been explicitly taught the Think-Pair-Share strategy it can be quickly implemented in a variety of situations.
